Obituary

Robert A. Cook, 89, of Marinette passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 15, 2020, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born May 24, 1931 in Marinette to Wilbur C. and Hillive (Carlson) Cook. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Marinette High School with the Class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1953 with the 3rd Infantry Division in Korea. He was discharged in January of 1954. Bob first worked at Scott Paper Co. and then in industry in Milwaukee before returning to Marinette in 1959 and joining the Marinette Fire Department. He retired in 1993 as Department Captain and always had the greatest respect and appreciation for the members of his crew.
In retirement he and Jan enjoyed traveling whether it was for trips out West or winter months spent in the South. Bob loved spending time at camp and was an avid deer hunter.
Bob was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette and a member of Marinette Masonic Lodge 182, Crivitz Masonic Lodge 218, a Life Member of Marinette Elks Lodge 1313, a member of Menominee VFW, Menominee American Legion Post 182 and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Cook; sons, Robert (Lois) Cook, Jr. of Marinette and Michael (Nadine) Paasch of Minnesota; daughters, Lisa Parker of Marinette, Lisa Kimball of Appleton and Dianne (Denny) Kosewski of Wallace, Mich.; one brother, Jim Cook of Racine, Wis.; 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Hillive Cook; a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Silas Saxton; and a brother, Wilbur Cook, Jr.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette from 1 until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. A Masonic service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Kolstad officiating. Due to public health concerns, wearing of face coverings and the practice of social distancing will be required. Entombment will be in Forest Home Mausoleum on Wednesday with military honors.
Bob’s family extends a special thank you to Unity Hospice and caregivers from Almost Family for their support and caring during his illness.
