January 29, 1966 - September 18, 2017
Born in Ashland Co., Wisconsin
Resided in Bellevue, Wisconsin

God in His mercy granted Nancy Lee Looney, 51, of Bellevue, WI (formerly of Oconto) eternal rest from her lifelong struggle with diabetes on September 18, 2017. Nancy was born on January 29, 1966 in Ashland County, Wisconsin to Kay Manning, who chose life and offered her daughter to adoptive services, allowing Thomas and Elizabeth Looney to form their own family. Nancy worked her entire life in the food industry, working full-time in the dietary department at Riverside Nursing Home in Oconto and later at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Nancy knew many struggles in her life on account of her childhood diabetes, and in recent years experienced the amputation of several toes on her foot. Despite the many sorrows of her life, she also experienced joys, welcoming the birth of her only son, Edward Looney, in 1989, and witnessing his ordination to the Catholic priesthood in 2015. She often traveled to the parishes he was assigned for Mass, fish fries, or picnics. A highlight of each year was being able to attend the State Fair in Milwaukee with friends, and spending time in person or on the phone talking to her close acquaintances. Nancy also enjoyed the companionship of her pets, Shadow, Furball, Socks, and Princess. She will be sadly missed by those who knew her, especially her son, Fr. Edward Looney (Brussels, WI) and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Elizabeth Looney, her best friend, Paula Powell, and many friends.

Friends may pay their respects and offer their prayers for Nancy Looney on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Holy Trinity Parish, 716 Madison St., Oconto, WI from 4 to 7pm, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday, September 23 at 10 am at Holy Trinity Parish, and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am by her son, Fr. Edward Looney, and concelebrated by brother priests. She will be laid to rest in the Oconto Catholic Cemetery.

Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home of Marinette, Wisconsin is assisting the family.

Fr. Looney would like to thank those who compassionately cared for Nancy over her several hospitalizations, and surgeries, especially Dr. John Hutto, Dr. Keith Elkins, Rob Birk, Phys.Assistant and the St. Vincent Wound Care Clinic. My Mom believed you were the best medical professionals out there, and spoke highly of your kindness and dedication to her as a patient. May God Reward You.
