Mary Jenkins Bradley

May 26, 1948 - December 12, 2014
Resided in Menominee, MI

Mary Jenkins Bradley passed away peacefully Friday, December 12 in her family home after an extended struggle with lung cancer. She was 66 years old. Mary was born to the late John and Genevieve Jenkins on May 26, 1948 in Menominee, MI. She is survived by her husband John, son Jonathan (Ashley) of Green Bay, WI, and daughter Allyson of New Orleans, LA. Additionally Mary is survived by her sister Jennifer Jenkins, brother John (Deann) Jenkins of Cadillac, MI, godson Andrew Boren of Richmond, VA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Betsy (Chuck) Boyle.

Mary worked for many years in dedicated service to the community. She began her cosmetology career at her Aunt Marion's salon then in 1976, she began working at Headquarters Hair Salon. Mary loved her work, but cherished the relationships she built with her clients and coworkers over the years.

Mary served, initially by governor's appointment, on the board of directors at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, the board of directors at Whispering Pines, and the Board of Directors for the Menominee County Department of Human Services. One of her proudest accomplishments was helping guide Pinecrest to be one of the first facilities in the country to implement an innovative new care model, the Eden Alternative.

Mary will be remembered by those who love her for her boundless energy and constant action. Mary was the consummate hostess, from her annual Christmas Eve party to numerous events at the M&M Yacht Club. Mary loved family dinners at 309 Hosmer and Bradley family picnics on the beach. Mary served as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Menominee and sang in the choir. She loved her animal shelter dogs, Hank and Lola, and a good, short sailboat race.

Mary often said that her goal in life was to be a mother and have a family. She accomplished that many times over through her own children, her "adopted" children, and the people she welcomed into her life.

Visitation will be held at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. A service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Menominee at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 17th. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Twin Counties Free Clinic.
