Obituary

Mabel L. Winter, 84, of Marinette, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. She was born November 7, 1931 in Green Bay to Edward and Lula Lardinois.
Mabel spent her early life in Green Bay, was a graduate of Green Bay West High School and took Vocational School training in sewing and cooking. In 1954 she married Roger C. Winter in Staten Island, N.Y. while he was serving at a duty station there with the U.S. Army. They returned to the Green Bay area and lived in DePere for a number of years. In 1971 Mabel and Roger moved to Marinette where they operated the Surf Club on Shore Drive until retiring in 1993.
An active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mabel volunteered in the kitchen for many events, cooking soup for Lenten suppers, working on the Thanksgiving Dinner, leading a kitchen crew for the Lord's Diner and assisting with funeral luncheons. She was even the winner of a soup contest the church held. She was known for her enjoyment of cooking, gardening and needlepoint as well as camping, fishing and playing cards. Mabel loved to collect cook books, enjoyed watching the Packers and loved animals, especially her dog, Abby.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry, of Marinette; a brother, Richard Lardinois of DePere; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, in 2013; and by two brothers, Lawrence and Arnold; and a sister, Nadine.
Friends may call at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Marinette on Saturday, July 9, 2016, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. James Wendt officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
