Obituary

Kenneth M. Vieth, 76, of Marinette, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2019 surrounded by his family at Aurora BayCare in Green Bay. He was born in Menominee, MI to Maurice and Dorothy (Mueller) Vieth on April 29, 1943. His family moved to Milwaukee when he was a child but he loved going to the family farm in Porterfield, WI during the summers. Ken served in the US Army and was stationed on Belle Isle in Detroit. There he met the love of his life, Toni. She was his rock, and they shared a love of life, friends and family. Their love grew with each day they were together. Faith was the center of Ken’s life. He lived each day to the fullest, making Jesus the center of everything he did. His example of being a true Christian will live on in everyone he touched!

Ken worked at Marinette Marine for a few years then at the Marinette Post Office until his Retirement in 2000. He was an active Union Leader at both jobs. He was a former member of Menominee Beagle Club, Peshtigo River Bow Hunter’s Club, M&M Great Lakes Sport Fisherman’s Club and The Harmony Sportsman’s Club. Ken was also a member of the American Legion Post 146.

Ken loved the outdoors. He shared his passion for hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren and many others. He truly appreciated the beauty found in nature, and considered it one of God’s greatest gifts! He also loved his parish family at SS Joseph & Edward Church. He took pride in training new altar servers and teaching Religious Education. He put his faith in action everyday of his life!

Survivors include his wife Toni and their 3 children, Joe (Sue) Vieth of Phoenix, AZ, Ken (Tammy) Vieth of Marinette and Kathy (Kevin) Olson of Marinette; 7 Grandchildren, Brianna (Jon) Lyons, Jennifer (Todd) Gerber, Matt Vieth, Nick Vieth, Jordon Vieth, Ben Olson and Abby (Chris) Maguire; 10 Great-Grandchildren, David, Hannah and Elizabeth Gerber, Hayden, Jocelyn, Harrison and Jude Vieth, Maxwell Vieth and Sofia and Jackson Lyons; 2 Sisters, Judy (Dallas) Cross and Bonnie (Jim) Brien; and his “adopted” family members Shobah Ramaiah and her son Achal Gowda. He is further survived by 4 brothers-in-law and their spouses and many cousins and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many others.

Visitation will be on Tuesday Nov. 5, 2019 at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home from 4pm - 7pm with a prayer service at 7. Funeral Mass will be held on Nov. 6, 2019 at SS. Joseph & Edward Parish in Porterfield at 11 am with visitation from 10 am - 11am. Lunch will follow at the church.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many healthcare providers that tended to Ken and the family’s needs. There are too many to list! Your care and compassion will never be forgotten! Also a huge thank you to Shobah Ramaiah and Bette Harbick, without you our journey would have been much more difficult!

In honor of our Husband and Father, donations can be made to Fr. Jess’ Philippine Outreach project.

In the words of Ken, the family that prays together stays together!
