Obituary

Joyce E. Hawkins, 85, of Marinette, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Rennes Health Center-East. The former Joyce Elizabeth Armstrong was born on January 11, 1933 in Marinette, Wisconsin to the late Harold and Gertrude Armstrong.
On October 3, 1953, Joyce married the love of her life, her “John Wayne”, Don Duane Hawkins, at Harmony Methodist Church. Duane preceded her in death on September 12, 2017. Joyce was a Registered Nurse and worked at Bay Area Medical Center for all of her nursing career. As a Registered Nurse in surgery and recovery, she eased the worries of patients, making them feel comfortable, touching many hearts and lives. After Joyce retired, she stayed active with the Hospital Auxiliary, serving as President for many of those years. She also was a volunteer for Respite Care and the Twin Counties Free Clinic.
Joyce is survived by her children, Sandy (Larry) Stokes and children, Erin, Amber and Laura; Sherry (Rich) Tibbits and children, Samantha, Breana and McKenzee; Donna (Randy) Kasten and children, Joe and Jon; Deanna Nast and children, Sara, Becki and Christa; Chuck (Kathy) Hawkins and children, Seth and Brady; and Cindy (Kevin) Johnson and children, Mitch and Jeslyn. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Braden, Bo, Erica, Caleb, Derek, Ayla, Taylor, Olivia, Thomas, Kate and Abby; brothers, Lowell and Wayne, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends, including a longtime dear friend, Joan Bantle.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gertrude; and siblings, Theron, Harold, Lucille, Virginia and Frances.
Friends may call at Harmony United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow with the Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Rennes-East, the Renaissance and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care of Joyce.
