John R. Marx, Sr. (Jack), age 95, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born October 16, 1924 in Menominee, Michigan to Joseph and Myrtle Marx.
Jack was an Eagle Scout, the sixth youngest in the United States at the time. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time at camp. Jack retired as an insurance adjustor with Auto Owners and lived at the Harbors Retirement Community. He wanted to be remembered as always being in a good mood and interested in helping other people.
He is survived by his family; son, John R. Marx, Jr. (wife, Cyndy), daughter, Marsha Marx-Bunting (husband, Ben), son, Thomas G. Marx (wife, Jolene), step-daughter, Tina Anderson and step-son, Bill Cavill (Beth Cleek); 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Myrtle Marx; wives, Donna Jensen Marx and Lil Cavill Marx; brothers, Douglas and Robert Marx; and a step-daughter, Carol LaCombe.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, he would like donations to the Menominee Animal Shelter in Menominee.
