Joan M. Boburka
Joan M. Boburka

August 2, 1930 - June 8, 2018
Born in Chicago, Illinois
Resided in Menominee, Michigan

Joan Boburka, 87, went to heaven to be joined with Jesus, the angels, and her beloved husband, Joseph, on June 8, 2018. Her will to live and dedication to her family kept her going through a lifetime of ups and downs, and in her final years, although her soulmate had been in heaven for some time, in her mind, he was always there with her. Joan’s father, a Chicago fire fighter, lost his life saving the lives of his fire chief and others when Joan was only 13 years old. A year later, her mother succumbed to grief and Joan was left to care for her 3 younger sisters and a cousin. The love of her life had been a neighbor and friend who was there for her whenever she needed him, and they married on April 11, 1953. Her husband and best friend, Joe, always carried the knowledge that Joan had had a traumatic childhood, and lived his life making sure she would always be taken care of. She almost lost her life on several occasions when health concerns took hold, but prayer and perseverance brought her through. She is now in the arms of Jesus and her loving husband. We rejoice in the knowledge that she no longer suffers, but she will be sadly missed by her nine children: Joe, Kay, Mike, Mary, Sue, Geri, Jim, Tom, and Larry, and their families. She privately told each of her children on many occasions that she liked them best, and was always a creative and supportive force in their lives. She loved music, and played the piano beautifully. Her faith has brought her through the storm, and it will be carried on by all who knew and loved her.
