Obituary

Our very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Evelyn E. Wagner, age 96, formerly of Menasha, Wis., passed away peacefully, with her daughters at her side on June 30, 2018, at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette, Wis., after a short illness. She was born on April 8, 1922, in Thornapple Township, Wis. She was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Harriet Murrilla (Trott) Klopfer.

Evelyn graduated from high school in 1940, and married the late Edward Wagner on December 16, 1942, in Manitowoc, Wis. She worked at the Manitowoc Shipyards during World War II. Evelyn followed her husband’s 23 year Army career and lived in many places including Fort Pork, LA; Fort Knox, KY; Trieste, Italy; Paris and Orleans, France; and Fort Carson, CO. She and her husband were avid square dancers and belonged to Happy Soles and Fas-N-Eighters. Evelyn also liked to travel, crochet, sew, garden and spend time with her family. She made many beautiful items, including an amazing wedding dress for her granddaughter at age 85.

Evelyn was a member of Holy Family Parish of Marinette and formerly a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Menasha.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Karin (Al) Discianno of Palatine, Ill. and Susan (Dennis) Carow of Menominee, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Mark (Jennifer), Krista, John (Michelle) and Paul Wagner, Tami (Murali) Gopal, Christopher (fiancee, Lia Rhodes) Discianno, Andrea (Raul) Nieto, Bryanne (Benjamin) Fountain and Matthew (Karen) Carow; ten great-grandchildren, Maya and Jordan Gopal, Hannah, Emma, Samuel and Nathaniel Wagner, Jonnathan and Gabryelle Fountain and Lily and Zoey Carow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edward; a son, Kenneth; sisters, Shirley Klopfer and Jean Dewey; and brother Richard (LouAnn) Klopfer; sisters-in-law, Armilla (Dan) Mrotek and Marcy (Vern) Eisner.

Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, Marinette, Wis., from 9 until 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Parish - Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, with The Rev. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Private interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha, Wis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated for the Wounded Warriors Project.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Renaissance of Marinette for over 5 years of excellent care provided to Evelyn. They also wish to express their appreciation to Bay Area Medical Center Emergency Room, ICU and Medical Surgical floor for amazing care of Evelyn and the family in a time of crisis. And also to Unity Hospice who provided great assistance in their time of need.
