Obituary

Douglas D. Krienke, 67, of Menominee, passed away peacefully at home with his devoted wife by his side after a 2-1/2 year battle against Stage IV brain cancer on Monday, February 17, 2020. He was born on April 16, 1952, in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Douglas and Mae (Schaude) Krienke.

Doug moved to the UP with his family when he was young, he attended school in Menominee graduating in 1970. He attended Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste Marie studying Criminal Justice, returning home to take over ownership of Marinette Lumber Yard, running the business successfully for 40 years until retiring in 2012. Doug married Christine Landerman (Neilio) in 1990.

Doug was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying scuba diving, many years of trap shooting, deer hunting and fishing as well as time spent at camp. Doug was a Harley enthusiast, travelling thousands of miles a year. He served on the Menominee County Board for two years.

Doug is survived by his wife, Chris; step-son, Tony Neilio; sister, Sally Zimmer; mother-in-law, Eleanor Landerman, sisters-in-law, Maureen Landerman and Eileen Nicklaus and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cathy Nowack; father-in-law E.F. Bud Landerman and brother-in-law, Peter Zimmer.

Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home on Monday, February 24, 2020, from 4 until 6 p.m., with a memorial service following at 6 p.m.
