Dennis Joseph Collard passed away Sunday evening, December 9, 2018, at Bay Area Medical Center. He was born to the late Henry and Theresa (Gorman) Collard on June 3, 1924. He attended Menominee High School where he met his future wife, June (Collins). They were married on August 7, 1945 at St. Ann’s Church in Menominee. He served in the Army on the front lines in Germany and France during World War II.
After the war he and June settled in Menominee where they raised their four children. He worked different jobs doing house painting and repairs until he started at Menominee Paper Mill as tour boss until he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent, retiring after 39 and ¾ years.
He enjoyed hunting at his camp, fishing and a lot of camping with his family. After retirement, he and June traveled around the United States until they purchased a home in Largo, Florida where they spent their winters for 15 years.
He is survived by his children, Karen (John) Orland, Craig (Cindy) Collard, Curt (Gail) Collard and Dan Collard; his eight grandchildren, Chad, Andrea, Christopher, Katie, Ben, Joy, Joseph and Alyisha; and his eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, June; granddaughter, Alexis; four sisters, Rey, Dorothy, Lorraine and Margret; and a brother, Henry.
He was a brave and very wise man and hard worker that was always there to help his children and friends. He was loved very much by his family and will be missed.
Visitation will take place at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Thursday, December 13, 2018, from 4 until 6 p.m. The Vigil Prayer service will begin at 5:30 p.m. with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Dennis Collard, at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14th at Resurrection Catholic Church in Menominee with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Rennes-East and the staff for their care of our father during his residency.
