Obituary

Dale Franklin Welch passed away at home on Saturday, July 20, 2019. He was born on December 11, 1948 in Kendallville, Indiana to the late Harley and Clarissa Welch. He graduated from Union Grove High School in 1967 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Wisconsin-Superior and Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minn. Dale married Barbara Howell on September 27, 1975 in Green Bay, Wis. and they moved to Marinette in March of 1979 to pastor the Pentecostal Apostolic Church where he pastored for 40 years, retiring on January 1, 2019. Dale also worked for T.H. Cochrane Laboratories as a third-party inspector at The Ansul Company for 37 years.
Dale is survived by Barbara, his wife of 43 years; son, Benjamin (Lucinda) Welch of Weston, Wis.; two daughters, Bethany and Brittany Welch of Marinette; three grandchildren, Eliana, Anton and Calla Welch; two brothers, Donald (Ann) Welch of Carmel, Ind. and Rev. Charles (Joy) Welch of Green Bay; one sister, Kathy (Ray) Paradowski of Hudson, Wis.; two brothers-in-law, Wesley (Laura) Howell of St. Cloud, Minn. and Daniel Howell of Florence, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Bonita (Dennis) Moericke of Appleton, Wis. and Lisa (James) Ritchie of Long Lake, Wis.; one aunt, Barbara (Roland) Welch; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to pastoring, Dale’s ministry included serving in the Sunday School and Home Missions Departments for the Wisconsin District of the United Pentecostal Church International for many years. He provided volunteer chaplain services to the local hospital and taught many home Bible studies.
Dale was a WIAA-certified baseball umpire and basketball referee for local high school sports. He loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting, singing gospel music and spending time with his extended family. Dale never met a stranger. He loved people—talking to them, laughing and crying with them and sharing the love of God every day.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette. Visitation will continue at Calvary Church, W1498 Highway 64, Marinette, on Saturday, July 27th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pentecostal Apostolic Church of Peshtigo, where Dale dedicated so much of his life.
