Craig A. Rolfs, 78, of Menominee, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. He was born May 3, 1940 in Waterloo, Iowa to Dr. Floyd O. and Jean Rolfs.
In his early life Craig graduated from Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, Iowa and in 1962 graduated from the University of South Dakota. In 1965 he graduated from the Drake Law School in Des Moines, Iowa. He first practiced law in Parkersburg where he also served as County Attorney for Butler County, Iowa.
In 1973 Craig moved to the Menominee area and practiced law with the Anuta & Minerman Law Office. In December of 1975 he was appointed by Judge Ernest Brown as Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney. Craig held that position until 1979 when he was appointed by Gov. Milliken to be Menominee County Judge of Probate.
On May 1, 2002, Craig married Monica J. Crandall in Rhinelander, Wis. He loved golf, Jeopardy and doing the New York Times crossword puzzles (in ink). Craig was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and was the treasurer.
He is survived by his wife, Monica; his sons, Robert and Scott from Denver, Colo. and Matthew (Kimberly) of Moreland, Ga.; a step-daughter, Roberta (David) Eickmeyer of Wallace; step-sons, Scott of Menominee and Christopher (Amy) of Hahira, Ga.; grandchildren, Samantha, Gretchen, Griffin, Sophia and Ellie Rolfs; step-grandchildren, Nathan and Rachel Eickmeyer, Ryan and Jacob Raminger; the mother of his children, Marilyn Wright of Denver, Colo.; and a brother, John R. (Suzanne) Rolfs of Brainerd, Minn.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marinette at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018. The Rev. Glenn Kanestrom will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service.
Special thanks is extended to Nurse Michong and Dan Dubey from ICU, the staff from the fourth floor at Bellin Hospital, staff of The Harbors Retirement Community and Jem Care.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Craig’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
