Obituary

Carol Jean Kamine, 82, of Menominee, MI passed away surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Menominee Health Services formerly Atrium. Carol was born on December 19, 1937 to Homer and Ida (Johnson) Hamblen.

Carol graduated from Menominee High School in 1957 and married the love of her life, Herbert Kamine just one month later. She worked as the bookkeeper for McClellan’s Five & Dime for many years. She then trained as an EMT employed by Menominee County Lloyd Hospital. She continued her education to LPN & Paramedic and then at 50 years old she returned to school to become an RN for BAMC. Carol loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchild. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts, flower gardening, dancing and she loved to travel. Along with her husband, she visited 49 of 50 states, Honduras, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. When her husband retired they started spending winters in Ocala, Florida. Carol & Herb were always willing to open their home - providing a family for 6 foreign UW Students, several of which continue to be a part of her family.

Carol was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and in retirement Carol found great joy in spending additional time sharing her hope for the future.

Surviving is her husband Herbert of over 62 years, 2 daughters - Debra (Scott) Gillespie of Milwaukee; Laurie (Brian) Visintin of Marinette; 2 grandsons - Chad (Ashely) Visintin of Milwaukee; Ethan Visintin (fiancée Olivia Zahorik) and a great granddaughter Elliott Visintin of Marinette. As well as her beloved dog Pennie. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Iver Flint and a sister Ethel Caylor.

Carol’s family would like to thank UP Home Hospice for all the wonderful care provided and the terrific nursing staff at Menominee Health Services.
