Obituary

Joan M. Johnson, 88, of McAllister, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Bay Area Medical Center. She was born February 6, 1929 in Menominee to Victor and Ethel (Wallin) Hetcher. Joan spent her early life in Menominee and was a graduate of Menominee High School, Class of 1947.
After high school she began employment with the Pfankuch Furniture Store in Menominee, working there as a bookkeeper for over 25 years until retiring in 1973. Joan married Walton K. Johnson on June 11, 1955.
She was a longtime member of the Community Lutheran Church in McAllister where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served as Financial Secretary and secretary of the Ladies Aid. Joan was noted for her sense of humor by her many friends.
Surviving are her husband, Walton; one daughter, Vicki (Mark) Hellmann of Appleton; two grandchildren, Tyson Williams of San Francisco, Calif. and Tasia Williams of Seattle, Wash. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Hetcher; and a sister, Elinor Hopper.
Friends may call at Community Lutheran Church in McAllister on Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 9 until 11 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Hueter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
