Obituary

James A. Dietrich, 89, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay with his family by his side. He was born in McAllister on April 20, 1928 to Arthur and Victoria Dietrich. He spent his entire life in the McAllister area except for his service with the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1948.
He worked for the Boilermakers Union for 30 years and retired in 1990. He was also known around the area for his Christmas tree lot. He would always look forward to talking to everyone and as his health started to fail, it was hard for him to get to visit with his friends that had been coming to see him every Christmas for many years.
Jim always loved to be with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and tried to remember all of their birthdays. His pastime was playing solitaire and keeping up on his garden. He loved the Packer games and also Badgers. He loved to have company and you could stop over anytime for a cup of coffee and a cookie.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beatrice; six children, Janice Heagle and Jeanette Paul, both of Appleton, John (Diane) of McAllister, Joei (Steve) Garrigan of Lena, Jim of South Dakota and Tom of Menominee, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, Greg Schultz (Cassandra), Diana Schultz, Angela Tuchalski (Dale), Amanda Orlando (Floyd Dennis), Taylor Neeper (Justin), Justin Dietrich, Karrie Seefeldt (Dean), Jason Thomson (Savanah), Nicki Thomson (Matt Mech), Steve Garrigan (Jayne), Sheila Hamilton (Jim), Sarah Behnke (Trevor), Emily Powers (Sean), Matt Dietrich, Christopher Dietrich and Karissa Dietrich; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Raymond (Phyllis) Hill; and a sister-in-law, Geneva Olson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff; a daughter, Jeanie; 2 sons-in-law, Valroy Heagle and Glenn Paul; 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Monday, July 31, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Funeral services will follow with the Rev. Kenneth Michaelis officiating. Military rites will be conducted. Burial will be in Tabor Lutheran Cemetery.
