George W. Adams, 88, of Menominee, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was born January 25, 1927 in Menominee the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Sindelar) Adams.
George resided in Menominee all of his life and was a graduate of Menominee High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II for 27 months in the South Pacific. On April 29, 1950, he married the former Mercedes Hubert at St. William Catholic Church.
Before retirement, George was employed at Lloyd Manufacturing Co. and later at Lloyd-Flanders. He was a member of the M&M Great Lakes Sports Fishermen, UAW Retirees, American Legion Post 146, a life member of the VFW, the Menominee County Democratic Party and the Michigan State Democratic Party.
Surviving are his wife, Mercedes; two brothers, Donald (Mildred) of Menominee and Richard of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is further survived by dear friends, the Furton family, Mike, Angie, Nathan and Morgan, and Alex Servatius; and the Delgoffe family, Steve, Kerry, Brooke, Courtney and Natalie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arthur.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Friday, March 27, 2015, from 4 until 6 p.m. An American Legion Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Deacon Vince Beckley officiating.
