Diane (Abbie) Bakotich, 82, peacefully left this life at Bellin Hospital on Sunday, September 4, 2016, joining her husband, Bob, in the heavenly company of angels. She was born July 24, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Walter and Edith Stobe.
While growing up, Diane frequently visited Menominee County where her grandparents had a cottage on Shakey Lakes. In her youth the family moved to Stephenson where she graduated from high school in 1952. Prior to her marriage to Robert "Bob" Bakotich on December 8, 1956, Diane worked for several years in Marinette. After their marriage, she and Bob moved to Indiana and later Oklahoma during his years of aeronautical schooling. They returned to this area in 1961, making their home on the Menominee River for many years. Bob preceded her in death on August 14, 2012. Two years ago Diane moved to DePere where she continued to live independently.
For many years, Diane had been active in the community, serving on the Menominee School Board and as a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She had been a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Menominee and more recently, of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Marinette.
She is survived by two sons, Rob Bakotich (Barb), David Bakotich (Tina); a daughter, Abbie Anderson (Todd); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Saufl.
Friends may call at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 917 Church St. in Marinette, on Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 1 until 3 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Meredyth Albright officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the Bellin Health Foundation, P.O. Box 23400, Green Bay, WI 54305.
